Opening Microsoft® Word Files Stored in Document

The integration between Document and Microsoft® Office allows you to open and work with files in Word that have been stored in Document. Once you have completed edits to the file, you can then save the file back to Document.

Note: Files that are locked, checked out, or published can be opened in Word, but they cannot be saved back to Document.

To open a Word file stored in Document, do the following:

  1. In Word, click the CCH Axcess tab on the ribbon.
  2. Click Open From Document.
  3. Select an entity type.
  4. Enter an entity name. As you type, the auto-suggest feature will list possible matches. Select the correct entity when you see it.
  5. Browse to the folder where the file is located, and then select the file.
  6. Click Open.
